RAINOUT POLICY

Post by Bernie » Tue Jul 09, 2019 11:41 am

BSSA Board members received many phone calls, emails, and text messages regarding league games last night. Our goal is to allow as many teams as possible to safely play their league games. That is a primary reason why we cancel games on a diamond by diamond basis rather than canceling the entire night. Prior to 5:00 PM, the Board, with collaboration from Parks and Rec, makes the cancelation call on league games. After 5:00 we empower the Umpire to cancel any games where there is a safety concern. Yesterday’s storm path could not have been accurately predicted. North Bismarck received less than .25” of precipitation and games could have been played. Mandan diamonds were in great condition and their league games were played. South Bismarck, well that is another story. We are communicating with Parks and Rec and will continue to monitor the field conditions for tonight’s league. Reminder, player safety is our primary concern. For those of you who were somehow inconvenienced yesterday because we did not cancel the games earlier, we apologize. BSSA Board
